The admission price is WELL WORTH the detailed historical tour of the life and times of Pearl S. Buck, and this wonderful home filled with amazing memorabilia. The tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable and kept my attention for the entire tour, despite the fact that I knew very little to nothing about one of our country’s greatest writers and novelist. By time I left all I wanted to do was to go home and start reading the trilogy that begins with The Great Earth, and several of the other works mentioned during the tour.
There is a small but very nice gift shop with everything you could possibly want on Pearl S. Buck.
Very good tour of her birth place and the history of her family including her life in China
This is a museum and historical home that is well worth going out of your way for. It’s not that far from The Greenbrier (about an hour), Beartown State Park (15 minutes), and Droop Mountain Battleground State Park (5 minutes). If you’re at any of those, make your way here. It most certainly won’t disappoint.
Photography is allowed for personal use only. I took a lot of pictures, and rather than post them here wouldn’t want to spoil it for those who will be visiting this gem of a museum.
